Coolant then leaks out at these cracks, into the exhaust port and recirculated via the EGR back into the engine, typical symptom coolant loss. Other typical damage to these engine is the timing belt damage / degrading. One reason for this can be the use of the wrong engine oil, as only specially approved engine oil may be used with this engine. The timing belt and oil pump belt runs in the oil of the EcoBoost engine, a special plasticizer is added to the engine oil. This prevents the timing belt and oil pump from curing. If curing occurs due incorrect oil use the timing belt dries out m degrading into small particulates , which can consequently lead to oil pressure failure and subsequent engine damage.
