Description
Teal is a 21ft Falmouth quay punt, built in 1914 by W.E Thomas in Falmouth for autor Percy Woodcock. She featured on the cover of Classic boat magazine in 2007 for sailing engineless across the North Sea and exploring the baltic for two summers. We bought her in 2011 and spent 3 years restoring her in Hegartys of oldcourt. The restoration story can be found at Falmouth quay punt . Blogspot She has been ashore the past few years but stored indoors where some more work has been carried out. She now has a yanmar 3gm30 replacing the previous Petter engine and a ply epoxy deck replacing the canvas covered one. She has her own yard trailer which can be towed by a tractor. Mainsail and mizen were new in 2015 and in perfect condition. Genoa, working jib and topsail are in reasonable condition and the staysail is working but could so with replacing. Standing rigging all replaced in 2014. Always been removed and stored during winter. She is 21ft on deck, 32ft over spars and carries 400squareft of sail and is a Gaff yawl. She has a 35ft keel stepped pole mast which was made from imported Douglas fir in 2013. Draft is 5ft and standing headroom in the cabin is about 5ft7. Weight is 5 or 6 tons She will be afloat at Baltimore wooden boat festival this year on the last weekend in May or can be viewed here before then. For all the detail please check out the blog. Thank you Tags. Wooden boat, traditional boat, Gaff cutter, classic yacht, Gaff yawl, long keel.
