Pillar Drill; 240 volts

Kerry industrial Pillar drill (only it's been changed). The drill now runs on single phase (240 volts domestic electric) and it's powered by a new 1 Hp motor. It also has a reversing switch (very useful when using Left had drill bits). Being industrial it has all sorts of bells and whistles that wouldn't be on a smaller pillar drill. The machine has a gear head capable of turning 9 speeds ranging from 70RPM to 1500RPM. It also has a fine feed system where the Capstan handwheel on the front of the head can operate a worm and wheel to adjust the feed of the spindle It also has an automatic powered feed where the spindle is driven downwards (see picture 5 for the operating lever) The spindle has a 3 Morse Taper (allows for taper shank drills and reamers) Given that the machine is industrial, the table is dammed heavy, so the table can be raised and lowered with a rack and pinion system. This machine weight's around 400kgs! The Kerry company also sold their drills under the Qualters & Smith brand, This one being the QDM 1000.
