Description
China, gilt bronze vessel, Ming dynasty (Xuande mark, 1426–1435), later, 1700-1800s. Hexagonal gilt bronze vessel decorated with engraved animal motifs within panels. The underside bears a four-character Xuande mark “宣德年制” (“Made in the Xuande period”). Such marks were frequently used during the Qing dynasty and later as a tribute to the famous bronzes of the Ming period. The vessel displays a rich golden patina with traces of wear and corrosion, testifying to its age and use.
