Description
For sale is an 18th-century folk art painted marriage wardrobe. Handcrafted with beautiful solid pine and handpainted floral panels with the inscription 'IM I786 JAR.' All the authentic 18th century construction is there to see with dovetail joints, wooden shims, hand forged wrought iron nails, escutcheon and key, hinges, and rim lock box. (Fitted with modern screws) This piece is over 240 years old and is in wonderful structural shape. The turned bun feet are likely early 20th-century historical replacements, a very common modification for heavy wardrobes of this era. There is a natural, stable vertical shrinkage split in the bottom door panel (not noticeable) The fitted crown has had repairs and there are scratches and scuffs to the body but again this comes with age. This is a fantastic piece and is ready to go to its new home. See pictures for condition. 189 cm H X 105cm W X 36 cm D Dm for more info and purchasing
