Description
Highly collectible Victorian-era domed antique steamer trunk with Liver brass plates. Late 19th century, the golden age of transatlantic travel. Brass plates on the front featuring 2 ornate herons with eels in their bills. This regional heraldic brassware is unusual. It belonged to my late father-in-law in England. The Liver birds on the brass plates denote a Liverpool connection. Wooden slats. Black japanned metal hardware & there is some of the decorative paper lining left. This sea chest measures approx (in centimetres) 88L x 50W x 58H A beautiful old piece of furniture. Large capacity for storing duvets/blankets etc (I’ve had my artificial Christmas tree stored in it for years). Buyer to collect. Located near Ballygunner in Waterford. I can possibly meet up locally or deliver with advance notice & a deposit. This is a heavy item that requires 2 people to lift it into a car.
