Antique Brechin Bros Butchers advertising Dish

Rare early 20th-century Brechin Brothers Butchers advertising dish, substantially made from beige glazed stoneware pottery. The dish is decorated to one side with a striking black stencil-transfer advertisement for Brechin Brothers Butchers, a well-established Scottish family butchery business. The underside carries an impressed Govancroft Pottery maker's mark, Glasgow. Govancroft Pottery was established in Glasgow in 1911, making this an interesting early 20th-century piece of Scottish commercial and advertising history. A particularly attractive and collectible example of early Scottish advertising pottery, combining a historic Glasgow business with a recognised Scottish pottery maker.
