Description
Stored away in the attic for years!! vintage Wooden Cooper’s Mallet made of Hardwood used in Guinness and whiskey barrel making for putting the metal ring around the barrell so they wont damage the wood on the barrel Coopers set an iron hoop-driver under the hoop and struck it with the wooden mallet, walking around the cask to drive each hoop down tight. This tightened the staves and sealed the heads on Guinness barrels (and re-tightened loose hoops) without sparking or marring the metal. year approx 1920 Solid old wooden mallet with a chunky cylindrical head and original handle Lovely honest wear and a great “pub workshop” man cave look. Original use: Traditional cooper’s mallet for striking a hoop-driver to seat the iron rims/hoops on beer and Guinness/whiskey barrels; also general joinery/carpentry where a softer, non-marring strike is needed. Would look great in Woodworking classes, prop for cottage-pub décor, man cave or bar wall display, photo/film prop, rustic home styling. Structurally solid with age marks and patina consistent with real workshop use. Tralee town Viewing anytime 0873728988 can be delivered
