The furniture supplied to Liberty’s was commissioned by Leonard Wyburd, as head of the Liberty Furniture Studio, AVAILABLE and on offer.. one 19th Century Chesterfield Sofa Attributed To William Birch, stamped to the rear leg (WB 11937), of good proportion with a curved back (corners) , built to last a lifetime, not lightweight by any means (a sure sign of quality) , Hessian to the underside as per pics with a lightweight fabric to the frame, this is NOT the original 1900s upholstery needless to say. Will be a superb sofa when reupholstered as we all know even a modern reproduction of this classic country house style of sofa retails for good money when new let alone a genuine Antique William Birch example. William Birch developed a considerable export trade both to Europe and the USA and had a London showroom at 370 Euston Road in the early 20th century.
