This is a Queen Anne style fall-front writing bureau, most likely a 20th-century reproduction designed so that the sloping front panel folds down to form the writing surface. It is made of mahogany with brass hardware and designed as a neat, elegant personal writing desk for letters, papers and / or for various correspondence. While it echoes 18th-century Queen Anne/early Georgian design, the overall construction and finish suggest it is more likely a 20th-century reproduction piece in the "Queen Anne revival" style, rather than a true 1700s antique.
