Description
Made during the famine for a farm at the main workhouse in Sligo in 1849 by a Patrick Ryan (signed). Original metal spacers etc. These gates are listed in the local history handbooks. Gates are over 10 foot wide (combined) so are suitable for modern traffic which is very unusual for gates of this period. Gates are 6 feet high. Made from pig iron so they are very heavy. Small bit of damage to one iron (see pics) but this is easily mended. These gates aren't ornate but are of their time and just solid hand made farm entrance gates.
