This style of porcelain is renowned for its distinctive colour palette, primarily featuring green enamel, along with red, yellow, blue, and purple. Famille Verte, meaning "green family" in French, was a term coined by art historian Albert Jacquemart in the 1860s to classify Chinese ceramics by their dominant enamel colour. The wares were largely produced during the Kangxi period (1661-1722) of the Qing dynasty in China. The vase is painted with a continuous scene of figures in a landscape. This type of porcelain is also known as wucai ("five colours") in China.
