Description
Antique Japanese Satsuma Koro Incense Burner – Meiji/Taishō Period – Hand Painted Beautiful antique Japanese Satsuma earthenware koro (incense burner) with removable lid, decorated with finely hand-painted figures and geometric motifs. The lid and body are adorned with four guardian shishi (foo dogs), with a larger shishi finial on top. Features a finely crackled glaze and hand-painted character marks to the interior of both the lid and body. A lovely decorative piece dating to approximately the late Meiji–Taishō period (c. 1890–1925). A wonderful addition to any collection of Japanese antiques or Asian ceramics. Condition: Good antique condition with age-related crazing and wear consistent with age. No major restoration noted. Please see photographs for full condition. Approximate size: 16 cm high × 13 cm wide. Collection or postage available. This is an attractive and increasingly difficult-to-find antique Japanese koro that displays beautifully.
