A pair of ceramic Staffordshire Spaniel-style dogs with a distinctive fruit motif (the so-called fruit chintz motif). These figurines, modeled after the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breed, were traditionally displayed in pairs on fireplace mantels in 19th-century England. A less common fruit motif depicts pears, peaches, and grapes, complemented by gilded elements on the ears and collars. One dog has a small, barely visible chip at the very bottom (see last photos).
