Description
A striking pair of finely hand-painted Japanese Satsuma vases from the late Meiji period (c. 1890–1910), later converted into table lamps. Each vase features intricate enamel and gilt decoration depicting Buddhist figures and wise men, with exquisite attention to detail and rich polychrome accents. The surfaces are beautifully textured with raised moriage enamel work, set against a warm crackle-glazed background. Originally produced in the late Meiji period, these substantial vases (37 cm high without lamp fittings) were likely exported to the West in the early 20th century and adapted into lamps during the mid-century era. The bases bear traditional Japanese marks. 📍 Available for viewing and collection in County Kerry. 🚚 Delivery options available upon request.
