Description
Matching pair of large wrought-iron ecclesiastical cross finials, originally removed from the gables of St John’s Convent, Rathangan, Co. Kildare, before the former convent was demolished. The convent was established in 1875, and the surviving building dates from the late 19th century. The National Inventory of Architectural Heritage records the building as having cross finials on its gables. Each measures approximately 161 cm high × 81 cm wide. Beautiful aged/weathered original finish, with elaborate scrollwork and trefoil decoration. Matching pair – €1,500 for both. Excellent for a period property, architectural salvage collection, heritage project or distinctive garden feature. Genuine provenance from St John’s Convent, Rathangan. Collection from Kildare.
