Rare 19th Century Bronze by Rousseau.

Beautiful Large late 19th Century Bronze Sculpture, by the renowned Belgian Sculptor Victor Rousseau (1865-1954). Winner of many prestigious awards he produced many public monuments and statues during his long and distinguished career and exhibited his works in London and Paris in the early 1900's. This piece titled "Woman with Torch " is circa 1880-1919. Signed on the Terrace Rousseau, this Sculpture depicts a young woman carrying a torch over her head, her jovial face surrounded by fine hair knotted at the base of her neck. Proud and free she walks ,her dress lifting in the wind. Allegory of the light of knowledge enlightening the world .This charming piece is a must have for any connoisseur of bronze Sculpture.
