Antique print, hand coloured engraving from 1834. Titled, Ring Necked Pheasant, Phasianus torquatus. This print is Plate 13. Phasianus torquatus denotes the Chinese ring-necked pheasant, a subspecies of the common pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) native to eastern China. The print was published as part of the Naturalist Library by Sir William Jardine, published by W.H. Lizars, Edinburgh. The prints are approximately 10 by 17 cm’s ( 4 1/4 by 6 3/4 inches).
