Russian doll

Vintage Matryoshka doll, a Russian nesting doll, which is a set of wooden dolls of decreasing size placed one inside another. Bought in St. Petersburg in 1992 at the time of Glasnost and Perestroika during the reign of Mikhail Gorbachev. They go from Vladimir Lenin up through Nikita Khrushchev, Leonid Brezhnev, Mikhail Gorbachev and ending on the outside with Boris Yeltsin. Brezhnev suffered an injury to his right shoulder, but otherwise they are in good shape.
