Dated circa 1760–1775, they reflect the early Georgian interpretation of the Chippendale style outside of London, likely from a workshop in Dublin, Cork, or Waterford. The chairs feature beautifully pierced and hand-carved splats with a unique interlaced ribbon motif, complemented by a striking vertical carving of three foliate drops above and below a pierced heart — a detail associated with Irish design influences, possibly a stylized clover leaf. The top rail follows a serpentine form with decorative carved shells or leaves in the corners, a classic Chippendale signature. Each chair is raised on robust Marlborough legs joined by H-stretchers, typical of Irish interpretations which favored strength, weight, and practical design.
