Description
A beautiful, late Victorian authentic double-sided Irish Catholic procession banner. Hand embroidered 'St Ambrose pray for us', with shamrock motifs and the Marian monogram 'M' onto a silk purple background with tassles and stitched border. Commissioned from Thomas Brown & Son, Manchester. They were supplying high-end banners to Irish parishes and convents during this era. It has some age related creasing and a small hole on the lighter side (see pictures for condition), otherwise, what a lovely piece of Irish history. Dimensions 51cm w x 86cm
