The refined hand carving, especially along the crest rail and arm scrolls, suggests work dating to around the 1860s–1870s. It stands proudly on cabriole legs and retains its original wooden castors, which are both a charming and practical period feature. These types of castors were commonly used during the mid-Victorian era before metal and ceramic wheels became widespread. The upholstery appears to be a mid-20th-century update with a scallop or fan motif, possibly a nod to Art Deco influence, yet it harmonizes beautifully with the antique frame.
