Vintage Brass Frame

This is a beautiful Antique brass frame. Cast from solid brass showing a rich, aged golden patina. The frame measures 9” X 6½” and the picture size is 6” X 4”. It is decorated in typical Rococo/Baroque style with elaborate decorative detailing, asymmetrical flourishes, sweeping C- scrolls, a central bottom cartouche and climbing acanthus leaves on the right border typical of Louis XV and French Baroque revival styling. It also features an attached rear folding easel leg designed to support the frame on flat surfaces like vanities, mantels or desks. These frames were highly popular from the late Victorian era through the mid-20th century used as elegant tabletop decorative pieces. The empty rectangular centre originally housed a small portrait photograph or art print. NOTE: These frames did not come with a glass pane, but you could easily insert one if so desired.
