Vintage FASNACHT festival badges 1976-2004

The Carnival of Basel is the biggest carnival in Switzerland and is the main Protestant carnival in the world. Basler Fasnacht takes place annually between February and March in Basel. It has been listed as one of the top fifty local festivities in Europe. Since 2017, the Carnival of Basel has been included in UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage. NOW AVAILABLE AND ON OFFER as part of a large downsizing process for the vendor, twenty nine Fasnacht badges dating from 1976 - 2004 mounted on a cork board at 19 x 12” inch with grey baize (felt cloth), Fasnacht badges in Basel have been around for more than 100 years. In 1910, the Fasnacht Committee was founded in Basel to help coordinate the main Fasnacht activities, and in 1911 they produced and sold the first badges to raise some funds. Since then, a new badge has been designed almost every year. The only interruption was from 1915-1919, during World War I, and during World War II, the same design was used in 1941 and 1942.
