Vintage arts & crafts painting on leather of a medieval knights' duel. The scene depicts two mounted knights engaged in a duel. One is armed with a mace, the other with a lance. The painting is applied to a leather flap, which is mounted in a wide leather frame decorated with metal studs arranged in decorative patterns. The painting style is reminiscent of illuminations from 13th- and 14th-century manuscripts such as the Codex Manesse, in which knights were often depicted in full armor with coats of arms on their shields and horse caparisons.
