There’s now a built-in Bluetooth 5.0 receiver, allowing you to wirelessly stream music from your phone, tablet, or computer. It’s a great way to enjoy Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, or any other streaming service without the need for additional equipment. For high-quality digital connectivity, the SV-237MKII features both an optical (Toslink) digital input and a coaxial digital input, each feeding an improved Burr Brown PCM 5102 DAC. The DAC is the chip that converts the ones and zeros of digital music back into the analog signal your speakers need. The PCM 5102 supports high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192kHz, meaning it can easily handle studio-quality music files. The front panel also features bass and treble controls – a feature taken from the golden age of hi-fi, allowing you to fine-tune the sound to suit your room and your preferences. If you prefer a completely uncoloured signal, a tone bypass switch removes the controls from the circuit entirely. There’s also a volume knob that gently boosts the bass and treble at low listening levels, so your music doesn’t sound weak when you’re playing quietly late at night.
