These tyres are wide, with a deep tread, and are selected according to the surface conditions – a narrower and rougher tyre is the best for driving through sand, while a wider and smoother tread will give you a more efficient and comfortable ride. This is important, because due to the higher load when pedalling uphill and all the dirt that gets in, mountain bike chains wear out the fastest.
