Vintage Raleigh Ascender Mountain Bike

*Ready to Ride* Raleigh Ascender from around 1993, beautifully restored to full working order with an urban cruiser style fitout. Fitted with Shimano drivetrain, 21 speed (3x7) with superb hillclimbing gears. Size is a medium (51cm from bottom bracket to top of seatpost) 26'' Aluminium rim wheels Back in the day these bikes were an all rounder bike for both urban commuting and light offroading, this one has been restored and modified to suit everyday urban commuting in comfort, the eye catching fenders keep you dry on wet pavements and also help keep the drivetrain clean. Tubing is Raleigh standard ATT 23 high tensile steel. The frame is in excellent condition with the original teal sparkle finish intact, areas of spot rust have been cleaned and treated with special rust preventing gold paint, similar to Japanese Kinstuge pottery repairs that aim to highlight the history of an object. Brand new decals have been cut and added to the frame. New brakes, brake levers, gear shifters, tyres, saddle, chain, fenders, seatpost, cables/housing and handlebar grips. Other stock parts have been replaced with better period pieces, namely the Shimano Acera derailleurs and crankset. All bearings in the headset, bottom bracket and wheels have been cleaned, regreased and had bearings replaced where needed.
