Description
This “Nach Mayer” flute is made from ebony or grenadilla with nickel silver keys and threaded pins. The quality of workmanship is superior and may have been made by Ewerhard Wunnenberg 1860 to 1938 Cologne. The Wunnenberg connection was with the flute when it came to me. A very similar flute can be viewed in Michael Lynn’s collection https://www.originalflutes.com/german-flutes/nach-meyer-flutes.html The flute has a vibrant tone and is strong across all notes. All keys operate and sealing well. The flute is in its original case . Most recently used for Irish trad sessions. A = 440 Hz with slide extended 12mm. No cracks or crack repairs, some scuffs and marks which reflect its age. Late 19th century . Both the case and the flute have some modifications. The flute was originally an 8 key. The flute is comfortable in hand and easy to fill. The flute is stamped “Nach HF Meyer, Hannover”. See my 60 second sound sample link above
