Description
9 key vintage flute, nach Mayer system and suitable for Irish traditional music. (Tin whistle fingering). Playing A = 435 - 440. small finger holes as per 19th & 20th century central Europe preference. The flute has a soft deep timbre, of its time, approx. 1920. The wood is either ebony or grenadilla with German silver fittings. Original case (no key) This flute is unlabelled but attributed to Josef Lídl of Brno, Czechoslovakia. https://www.josef-lidl.cz/. An example of his flutes , identical to this flute, are on display in Bratislava Museum. https://slovakiana.sk/en. Josef's Lidl seems to have been a significant producer, with examples played across Europe, America and Australia. The company now make brass instruments only. The item has value as both a musical instrument and antique. It has been respectfully serviced. Cracks, key springs, pads, tenons joints and embouchure have all had attention. If interested you are welcome to come and try it out, its easy to play. I have many other flutes to sample. Looking to reduce my flute collection.
