Description
Canonet G-III 17, D24943 35mm film camera Manufactured from spring 1972 to summer 1982. Recently serviced. The “G” in the camera designation stood for “Grade Up” which referred to the quality improvement. The “III” indicated the third-generation Canonet series, following the original Canonet and the New Canonet. The basic specifications were the same as the New Canonet QL17’s. Checking the battery was easier with a battery check button on the side of the viewfinder eyepiece. Manufactured from spring 1972 to summer 1982, it was a long-selling bestseller over 11 years. About 1.2 million units were made. It features fully shutter-priority automatic exposure and fully manual shooting modes. The Canonet G-III is the third generation of Canonet following the original Canonet and the New Canonet. The G-III features a 40 mm f/1.7 with six elements in four groups. The integrated light meter provides shutter priority and manual modes. The sensor is located on the forward part of the lens which allows use of filters without manual compensation of exposure. The Canonet can use standard flashes.
