Volkswagen Ireland confirms €13,500 scrappage offer, running 1-24 July
Volkswagen Ireland has confirmed a new nationwide Scrappage Offer worth up to €13,500, running for a three-week window from 1 to 24 July 2026.
The offer works on two levels, each with its own trade-in eligibility:
- All powertrains (petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, battery electric): up to €8,500 from Volkswagen, for trade-ins first registered in 2016 or earlier, roughly 10 years old or more.
- Selected EVs (including the ID.5 and ID.7) that also qualify for the Government's EV scrappage incentive: a further €5,000 from Volkswagen on top, bringing it to up to €13,500 combined, where the trade-in is 13 years or older, registered 2013 or earlier.
Volkswagen says the offer builds on the Government's recently announced EV scrappage incentive, but goes further by extending support across petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid models as well as fully electric ones, rather than limiting savings to EV buyers alone.

The offer is open to private retail customers only, trading in a vehicle registered in the Republic of Ireland and in a condition acceptable to the participating Volkswagen Retailer. New cars must be both ordered and registered between 1 and 24 July 2026 to qualify, subject to availability.
Martin Cardiff, Head of Sales at Volkswagen Ireland, said many Irish motorists are driving older vehicles and looking for "a practical, affordable route into something newer, safer and more efficient," whether that's a petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid or fully electric Volkswagen.
The scrappage allowance is applied as a discount against the car's recommended retail price rather than paid in cash, and isn't combinable with other offers unless stated. Volkswagen says it reserves the right to amend, withdraw or extend the offer at any time.
