2015 Audi A5 Sportback 2.0 TDI S line - Manual

My wife's X5 was diagnosed by my local mechanic with a worn / noisy timing chain,requiring an engine out overhaul - and so he recommended a specialist he previously used. I phoned CMC & explained what the issue appeared to be, who promptly provided me with a quote and an available date, should I choose to proceed. I agreed to go ahead. Marc kindly dropped me to the train station and they began work on a Monday. Thursday afternoon they phoned me - informing me the car was repaired and ready to collect, fitted with a full new timing chain kit inc sprockets. I collected the car Friday morning and Marc not only went through what was done, he also sent me photographs via Whatsapp showing me the worn items (chain guides & sprockets) in my engine. He explained how they also removed, inspected and cleaned out the oil pump to ensure there was no residual debris. The price quoted was the price I paid, the turnaround time was excellent and the attention to detail including a follow up call from the owner was impressive to say the least. They gave the car a inspection while in their workshop and noted there was some play in the front ball joints that should be tended to in the future - but no pressure was put on me to have it done while the car was onsite or even with them. They also noted a driver airbag recall that would be done free of charge by my local BMW dealer. All in all - I was very happy with the high level of service I personally experienced with CMC and would definetly recommend Marc and his team. I brought my 2017 Toyota Avensis (1.6 diesel, N47 engine, 215,000km) to Clondrinagh Motor Centre for a timing chain replacement. From the very first phone call they were knowledgeable, honest and never pushy. They explained exactly what needed doing and why, recommended the revised BMW chain kit with the latest improvements, and suggested sensible additional work (clutch, intake manifold flap deletion, DPF ultrasonic clean, injector reseating) only because the engine was already out — making it clear the car would run fine without it, but that it made sense if I was keeping the car long term. The transparency was outstanding. They sent me before and after photos throughout the job showing the carbon buildup they found and the work being done. A day after collection I noticed an exhaust noise. They booked me in the following week and fixed it without question — a gasket between the turbo and DPF — no charge, no fuss. A month on, the car drives better than it has in years: more responsive, the turbo pulls stronger, and everything is perfect. A courtesy car was provided for the full week. Fair pricing, genuine expertise, and total honesty. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone, especially for BMW-engined cars. Five stars well earned.

It’s hard to find a garage you can fully trust, especially with higher-end cars, but Marc is the real deal. I’ll definitely be going back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone.
