The timing chain: already done. Peugeot issued a recall and extended warranty programme covering 1.5 BlueHDi diesel engines across the 2017-2023 range. Peugeot acknowledged that certain vehicles could experience premature wear of the camshaft chain, potentially leading to unusual engine noise or, in rare cases, chain breakage. All affected vehicles are subject to recall with the chain replaced free of charge, and Peugeot extended coverage on this engine to 10 years / 150,000 miles from June 2025. On this car, the timing chain was replaced under Peugeot warranty and is fully documented in the service history. The known issue is resolved: no cost, no risk, no uncertainty.
