Description
I bought this car second hand and imported it from the UK in 2012. There's a bit of a project here, and I just had a kid so I don’t have the time any more! The good: - It's an Alfa. It's just an amazing place to sit as a driver. - The 200HP TBi engine is fantastic and definitely the highlight of this car. - It has the TI trim - meaning leather seats, 19" alloys, side skirts and rides a little lower. - The mileage is quite low for its age - I've never really commuted in this car. - Tyres and breaks were done a couple of years back. There's a fresh battery in there too. The "needs work": - It's currently without an NCT. It failed on an exhaust system leak. I brought it to a garage for a look and it basically just needs a new exhaust. - The engine warning light is on. Last time I had it checked, the folks at AMS in Santry said it was likely just the lambda probe. - A bunch of the buttons on the stalks aren't working. There's a second hand replacement included that I never got around to fitting. - The reversing sensor system isn't working right. It's very likely a one or two of the sensors needs to be replaced. - The front grille is gone. The bad: - It's always had a slow battery drain related to the alarm system. If you lock it without arming the alarm it will be okay. But with the alarm engaged it will drain. I spent a lot of time and money early on trying to get this fixed and never got anywhere! - The gear box, from the moment I got it, has had a noisy bearing. It's overall pretty rough and has gotten noisier over the years. - There are a few dents and scrapes, the most significant being the one over the rear left wheel (see the pictures). So why the price given all those cons? The engine, basically. Based on some searching around I did, on its own, it could be worth 2-3k. I've been pretty brutally honest about the state of the car here in the spirit of not wasting anyone's time: I haven't even gotten it washed for the photos :)
