Description
Audi A3 Sportback AMB 5-Door (Needs repair) Engine: 1.6 Petrol FSI (115 BHP) NCT: Expired Tax: Valid until 31st July 2026 The car is driving well and if you fix the issues I've listed and put it through the NCT, it is a very nice car to drive and this 5-door version of the A3 has a much larger boot. . It comes with a working and installed Bluetooth car radio: Alpine CDE-133BT (the original Audi car radio is there if you want it). Issues: NCT Failure - it failed on two grounds, (and you can add that the side mirror has since cracked). 1. Emissions: Emissions: It went down on emissions at the last NCT, but there is a loose plastic vacuum/breather pipe right beside the engine intake cover that needs to be clamped or replaced. This is very likely causing a vacuum leak which throws off the emissions, so it should be a very simple fix. 2. Windows: The driver's window moves just a tiny fraction up and down when the switch is pressed but won't fully open. The motor and wiring are getting power perfectly, so it just needs a replacement mechanical window regulator unit, which you can get from a breakers. The same issue is starting to show in rear passenger window. Again, the driver's one at least will need to be done to get through the NCT. Other issues: Clutch / Gearbox Noise: There is an engine noise, which disappears if you press in the clutch. Note: This year/model uses a solid/single-mass flywheel (it doesn't have a dual-mass flywheel, which would sound like this), so the noise might be a worn clutch release bearing or input shaft bearing. Front Suspension Noise: There is a loud, spring-like sound when turning the steering wheel to full lock on either side. This points to a seized strut top mount bearing or a worn front coil spring. It shouldn't be difficult or expensive to repair. Side mirror cracked: the driver's side mirror is cracked, as you see in the pictures.
