Golf 2012, 1.6TDI, Manual, € 1,999, NCT & TAX

Selling my 2012 Volkswagen Golf Mk6 1.6 TDI (105 HP, manual). The car has been well looked after, very economical, and always reliable until the recent clutch issue. Interior is clean, and the exterior is in good condition for its age, and all electronics work. Current issue: While driving on the motorway, the car began losing power and slowing down without stalling. The clutch pedal then went completely soft and dropped. After switching the engine off, selecting a gear, and restarting, the engine runs but the car does not move and does not stall — it felt as if it was in neutral even though it was in gear. I called AA and the car was towed. This behaviour strongly suggests a clutch hydraulic failure (master/slave cylinder or hydraulic line). Before this happened, I occasionally heard a small mechanical “click” from the clutch pedal, which can be an early sign of hydraulic wear. There were no previous issues with the clutch disc or flywheel, and no slipping, vibration, or noise. To know the exact cause with 100% certainty, I think the gearbox would need to be removed for inspection — which is why the car is priced very low. The engine runs perfectly, but because the clutch cannot engage, the car will need to be towed.
