Golf GTI Mk5

2008 Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk5. Undoubtedly one of the best hot hatchbacks of the 21st century. This one is almost the perfect spec: • Red • 3 door • Manual box • the 17 inch wheel not the 18s which ruins the ride and adds weight and drag. Engine is strong and pulls away fine across all the gears, plenty torque it’s happy to sit in 6th gear at 70km/h and MPG is averaging 31ish for me so pretty healthy. No smoke, no burning oil, no funny noises. DV is done, cam followers are done, no chain rattle. Fuel pump is done. (Previous owner carried out those works) 4 new tyres were put on last month and have covered less than 600km since as I’ve been away with work. No knocks bangs or squeaks from suspension. NCT until January 2027 This one is a fairly original example, if one that has covered a good few miles in its life but its condition reflects the care hat previous owners have had for it over its life to date. The only modification is a custom non resonated exhaust. No remap, no lowering springs or worse - cheap coilovers. The standard suspension is as it should be and the car is great on the road. Underneath is rust free, which is hard to find on these now. Surprisingly even the arches are free of bubbling. The interior is the classic tartan buckets which are free of rips and tears. I suspect the drivers bolster must have been repaired at some point as at this stage you’d expect it to be frayed and torn but it is not. Seats are in great shape, no sagging, holes or staining. Sunroof and all other electrics function fine. Now, all of that being said - it’s no show car. It does show its age in places. The paint being the red of course does have the lacquer peel these are known for. The alloys could do with a refurb. Rear valance was cut untidily when exhaust changed. Very straight otherwise. Selling as I’m away so much it’s just wasted being parked up and to be honest I could do with something bigger when I am at home. Ad will be removed once car is sold.
