Mini JCW GP 1

This is a rare treat of a car. Compact, Light, Rapid and an absolute blast to drive. With 218hp and yet only weighing 1090kgs this has a better power to weight ratio than the golf gti, clio sports and many of its contemporaries. Mini interatively improved on the gen 1 Supercharged Cooper S, via the John Cooper Works to this limited run, ultimate performance iteration – the John Cooper Works GP in 2006 This rare, limited edition, 2 seater Mini was designed for both track and fast road use and it makes an excellent B road blaster. Its short gearing, steering that is full of feel, extra stiffening combined with the limited slip differential makes it so rewarding to spin around in. It's the absolute opposite of modern sanitised cars. The exhaust note is perfect and pops and bangs on over run when pushing on, not fakery like new cars, but authentic individuality. Yet when needed you can cruise around in peace. Because its so light the suspension doesn't have to be massively stiff and it rides sportily but comfortably enough. It's a real blast to drive. Internally, it has very comfortable, and supportive deep bolstered Recaro seats specially designed for the GP1, plus a few upgrades like a recently rewrapped alcantara steering wheel and carbon fibre trim and touch points that lift the experience. I am the second owner of the car from new. It is used regularly and while well maintained and dry stored, it is a 20 year old car and so has a few minor scuffs, marks and cosmetic items, plus a small no paint dent repair on the drivers door, it is not a garage queen. It passed the NCT at the end of January with no fails or retest items and my view is that its condition is good for the year and it starts and drives well.
