Description
Vintage Davos Germina wooden sled made in GDR (Germany) A search for "Davos sledge" generates over 50,000 entries on Google. And with good reason: The Davos sledge is in a way the original among sledges. The wooden construction is what makes it so special. The necessary stability is provided by a tow bar that connects the two iron-clad runners. The history of the world-famous Davos sledge began in the 19th century. Carpenters from Davos further developed the Norwegian sledges. The sledge got its name from the first, historic sledge race in Davos in 1883. Even then, daredevil pilots were racing down the snowy road from Davos-Wolfgang to Klosters on Davos sledges. In the same year, the English poet and literary critic John Addington Symonds founded and chaired the International Davos Tobogganing Club. At that time, the club was still called the "Davos Toboggan Club". One of the club's co-founders was Davos' first winter spa guest: Hugo Richter. In excellent condition. 43inch Long, 14.5inch Wide, Blue handles 22inch across, 13inch High to steering wheel. Check out my other ads.
