Description
Most pieces like this were made late 19th to early 20th century (c. 1890–1920), especially for the export market to Europe and the US. The bowl interior scene shows a woman and a child in a domestic setting, symbolizing refinement, family, and harmony—very popular themes for export ceramics. The Vase pictured is a highly decorated Japanese Satsuma vase, likely dating to the Meiji period (1868-1912). It features intricate hand-painted designs and moriage (raised enamel) details. These are not ancient, but they are genuine hand-decorated Japanese pieces, not modern mass reproductions. Made during a time when Japan was producing highly detailed ceramics for Western buyers. They’re attractive examples of Japanese export art ceramics—decorative, story-rich, and very much of their time. Both in excellent condition. Bowl 13inch Diameter, 5inch Deep. Vase 12inch High, 8inch Diameter. Both for €165. Postage would be €6. Check out my other ads.
