Description
These pieces are transferware created in England, circa 1900. “Cromer” is the pattern of poppies, which were popular during the time. Before the advent of bathrooms as we know them, this would have sit on a piece of furniture called a wash stand. Water was in the jug and poured into the bowl and you would use soap and wash up, pitch the water, then rinse and pitch the rinse water. These wash stands were a part of all bedroom furniture. The bowl has been professionally restored, see photos.
