Description
Slate and marble mantel clock. These clocks were popular in the late 19th century, particularly in France. Mantel clocks are typically designed to be placed on a mantelpiece or shelf. They often feature a decorative case made from materials such as marble, onyx or wood. The clock has Roman numerals on its face. Many antique mantel clocks have an 8-day movement and may include a chiming mechanism. The movements are known as "Paris" movements. All the marble cases were made in the town of Rance in the Dinant marble fields. It also included the marble cases used by the American companies. Key. Any inspection welcome in Walkinstown, Dublin 12.
