Description
A beautiful genuine antique French Cavalry saber, model 1882, officers version total length 105 cm with a straight 89 cm blade and a solid 3-branch brass guard. This is an officers' version so the brass guard is beautifully decorated with floral designs on both the inside and the outside of each of the three branches, as well as on the end pommel. The blade is in good conditions, there's some quite extensive pitting, especially towards the tip - all active rust has now been cleaned away, but that left some scars. The base of the blade is marked with the manufacturer logo (Balp) The brass guard is in very good conditions, with just few minor scratches, as you'd expect from a genuine antique piece. The sword still holds very strong and there is no movement or play between the blade and the guard. Comes with a one-ring, nickel-plated steel scabbard, in good condition with no dents but some flaking in the nickel plating and some small damage in the bottom part Great item / gift idea for anyone interested in militaria / antiques, or anyone looking for a beautiful decoration piece - great chance to own an amazing original piece of history at a very fair price.
