Large and very heavy solid brass Footman Trivet, which has a pierced top decorted with rows of quatrefoils and is raised on paw front legs. As opposed to trivets, which were used in kitchens, footmen were for use in the parlour, to warm dishes, muffins etc. and to stand kettles on.
