Inishmurray Ancient Monastic Island

An excellent copy of Patrick Heraughty’s book on Inishmurray- The Ancient Monastic Island off the coast of Sligo. This paperback edition was published in 1996. This tiny island off the coast of Sligo is rich in history and prehistory. Site of an early Christian settlement and, more recently, of a hardy group of settlers who sketched out a living through fishing, poteen and butter-making, the island was finally evacuated in the 1940s. In this book the history, archaeology, customs, religious rites and beliefs of the Inishmurray folk live on. In excellent condition.
