The box features finely detailed relief decoration with a dragon wrapping around the sides and a phoenix motif on the lid. These traditional East Asian symbols represent harmony, imperial power, and good fortune. The base carries a diamond-shaped cartouche containing the character 福 (“Fuku” / “Fu”), meaning happiness or good fortune. The piece is well made and notably heavy for its size, weighing approximately 11 ounces, suggesting thick brass or bronze construction with an original dark patinated finish. The dragon is rendered with fine scales, flowing whiskers, and elegant movement around the box.
