Description
a Comtoise clock (also known as a Morbier or Morez clock), a traditional longcase wall clock originating from the Franche-Comté region of France. Key characteristics that match: • Ornate repoussé brass fronton (the decorative crest at the top) • Large round enamel dial with Arabic numerals • Weight-driven movement with two heavy cast-iron weights • Long lyre-shaped pendulum with a large hammered brass bob • Typical wagon-spring suspension and iron frame case These features are classic for Comtoise clocks made between 1850 and 1920. Based on the design of the crest and the dial, yours likely dates from circa 1880–1910. Estimated value 450-600. All bids are welcome
