Six 1916 Easter Rising commemorative silver coins

Six 1966 Irish ten shilling historic silver coins issued by the Irish Government to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Easter Rising. The coins are unique for being Ireland's first ever commemorative coin and the only circulating pre-decimal Irish coin that does not feature the traditional Irush harp. The composition of the coins is 83.3% silver, 16.67% copper (15.12 grans/0.486 troy oz of pure silver). Weighs 18.14 grams, with a diameter of 30.5mm. The coin features the portrait of Padraig Pearse. The back depicts the dying Cú Chulainm. The edge is inscribed with "Éiri Amach na Cásca 1916". While 2 million coins were minted, the Government withdrew and melted down 1.27 million as the public preferred the paper ten shilling note for daily use. Postage charge extra.
