Description
Vintage framed pub print of Bacchus after Caravaggio, issued for tied-house interiors by Bass, Ratcliff & Gretton of Burton-on-Trent, c.1930s–1940s. The print remains in its original brewery-issued dark stained frame with gilt slip, original brown paper backing, and natural fibre hanging cord. The reverse retains a worn but legible Bass property label and period pencil inventory markings identifying the subject and brewery asset number. This picture would originally have hung in a Bass-owned English public house and was treated as a brewery fixture rather than private property. Condition is good and original, showing expected wear consistent with long-term pub display. No modern reframing or replacement backing. A genuine piece of British pub and brewery history, not a later decorative reproduction from a closed English public house.
